What is The Green Beauty Community?

Green Beauty Community art by Daniel Johnson, 2023

When I first started Salonvironment in late 2020/early 2021, I had no idea where I was going. But I knew that I wanted to build a community.

A place for beauty professionals to learn, to expand their opportunities, and would be able to make a difference in their salon, their neighborhood, and the industry.

While I worked to the bone on a constant stream of new projects, some sticking and some not, I had to understand that I was one person and only had the capacity of one person (while balancing my own personal life). I’ve created free online education, hosted recycling pop-ups, collected waste from salons, started my own plant-based false lashes line, and dove into different environmental organizations to understand the problem at hand. But it was lonely. It’s hard to change the industry alone and I thought I would be alone for a long time.

I was lucky to find three other individuals who felt the same I did - looking for a place to share ideas and expand options for others who want a cleaner, green, and more sustainable beauty industry.

We are proud to announce today that we are officially launching the Green Beauty Community, a place for curated education, open source ideas, and connections to beauty brands that have the same incentives as we do.

Let me introduce to you our founders:

Daniel Johnson, founder of The Salon Chair Guys and Salon Crafts

Mazey Heydman, owner of Sustain Salon and better known as Sustainable Mazey

Jacquelyn Rodriguez, owner of Enlightened Styles, Holistic Salon Academy, and The Salon Owners Holistic Blueprint Podcast

Hannah Craik, founder of Salonvironment
