Beauty X Sustainability
“Beauty x Sustainability” is a series of suggestions and factual shorts that connect the industry and the different parts of climate change related subjects.
“Hair and Solar”
Nothing is ever just as it seems.
It's amazing when industries that wouldn't normally cross combine to create something so out of our realm. To see how far we've come...
2014: A teen from Nepal reads a book from Stephen Hawking discussing the ways to create static energy from hair and remembered that melanin is a factor in energy conversion and can be used as an alternative conductor. He used hair to replace silicon in solar panels.
2021: Researchers from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) take hair from a barbershop in Brisbane and create carbon nanodots for solar panels, which protect the solar cells from moisture and damage.
Again, to see how far we've come...
To innovate, regenerate, and balance...
We're only just beginning on some incredible breakthroughs.
